School Uniform

Pupil Dress Code Ashby Willesley Primary School

The following guidelines are intended to provide a safe learning environment for pupils and staff and to reflect the high expectations of Ashby Willesley School. Parents and pupils views are reflected in our dress code.  We believe school uniform is important for several reasons:

• It promotes a sense of pride in the school.
• It promotes a sense of community and belonging towards the school.
• It is practical and smart.
• It makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance.
• It is regarded as suitable wear for the school and good value for money by most parents.
• It is designed with health and safety in mind.

All uniform must be named to avoid loss.

The Uniform is:

• Purple Ashby Willesley Primary School sweatshirt / cardigan with logo
• White or purple polo shirt with or without school logo or white shirt.
• Grey or black trousers/ skirt/smart shorts and a grey pinafore/purple gingham dress in summer months.
• White/ black or grey socks or grey, black or purple tights.

Footwear

Children should wear black leather or leather look shoes (patent also acceptable), with black boots acceptable in winter months. All children will need to have a pair of wellington boots that they can leave in school.

P.E Uniform – to be worn to school on days that pupils have PE in school

• Purple sports fabric t-shirt with school logo
• Purple zip up fleece with or without school logo                       
• Black shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggings (ideally unbranded and plain)
• Trainers
• YEAR 6 ONLY – coloured residential hoodie to be worn in place of purple fleece

Hair and Jewellery

1. Hair colour should be an appropriate colour and style for school, and accessories be kept to a minimum. Pupils with long hair should tie it back for hygiene and safety reasons.
2.  Make-up, nail varnish and temporary tattoos are not permitted.
3. Simple stud earrings and a watch are the only jewellery permitted (exceptions will be made essential for medical/ religious jewellery by agreement).
4. Pupils will be requested to remove studs or tape them up for physical activities. Please send your child with a roll of micro-pore tape if needed. Ideally pupils should avoid wearing earrings on PE days.

School book bags, jackets and other uniform items are all available from our uniform suppliers.

Hats / Caps - We recommend that caps be worn during hot weather, when outside.

Second Hand Uniform

Second hand uniform is available to purchase via our PTFA: ashbywillesleyptfa@gmail.com

The school will promote sales through Reach More Parent messages and the PTFA will attend school events.
