We are a two-form entry primary school, currently with 2 single age classes of up to 30 pupils in each year group (60 pupil intake per year). We are the largest primary school in Ashby and pride ourselves on the welcoming 'family feel' that it has.

Do you have a child due to start school in August 2025? 

Our new starters parents and carers presentation evening was on Wednesday 18th September 2024 and our open morning for children and their families is on Saturday 9th November 2024 9.00am -10.30am. Group tours are also available during the school day - to book your place onto either open evening or to request a tour please click here or call 01530 413654 or email Reception@willesley.leics.sch.uk.  If you missed our presentation evening, contact the school to find out more.

Applications are welcome from families who live in and out of our catchment area. 

Applications for places at our school are managed by Leicestershire County Council; the school does not deal with places directly. Please visit the Local Authority website (www.leicestershire.gov.uk/admissions) for advice and to apply online for a school place. Paper copies of application forms can be obtained by telephoning the Admissions Department on 0116 305 6684. Admissions Policy for September 2025

Induction

We provide a gradual induction programme for our new Foundation Stage children and their parents. Parents are invited to an information evening in the Summer Term, before children start, and we invite children into school for a short ‘taster’ session in the Summer Term too. Induction packs provide information about what happens in school and includes a number of forms for parents to complete and sign. New children start school, after the summer holidays, part time to begin with, building to full time very quickly.

New children settle very quickly at our school; we encourage independence from the start but are also mindful that some need a little more time to get used to routines.

Those children, who join us part way through the year may start school on an agreed date which is negotiated with the school.

Some children join us at the end of the summer term and we ask them to attend on the nominated induction days when all children move to their new classes. Those children who may join us part way through the year are welcome to have an induction day which should be negotiated with the school.

The school is organised into ‘years’ which correspond to the following ages:-

Foundation Stage

Foundation/Reception (age 4 to 5)

Key Stage One (Infants)

Year 1 (age 5 to 6)

Year 2 (age 6 to 7)

Key Stage Two (Juniors)

Year 3 (age 7 to 8)

Year 4 (age 8 to 9)

Year 5 (age 9 to 10)

Year 6 (age 10 to 11)

We currently have an admission limit of 60 children (2 classes) per year group. 

We have 6 classrooms for Foundation and Key Stage 1 children (Acorn Building).

We have 6 classrooms and a small teaching area for Key Stage 2 - Years 3 to 5 (Oak Building).

We have 2 classrooms for Year 6 and a Studio space in our newest building (Treetops Building)
