The Local Governing Body (LGB) has general responsibility for the conduct of the school, with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. The day to day business of school life remains the responsibility of the head teacher and the senior leadership team.
Our Governing Body is made up of staff, parent and co-opted governors and our Headteacher.
Copies of the minutes from governor's meetings are available from the school on request. For more information on governance at Trust level please visit the Trust website.
We would like to be as accessible as possible within the school community. If you have any suggestions for improvement your ideas and comments will be welcome. You can contact the Governors by;
e-mail: governors@willesley.leics.sch.uk - This email will go to the Chair & Vice-Chair of Governors, and will be forwarded to the relevant responsibility lead governor if appropriate.
Letter: Please address any written correspondence to the Chair of Governors c/o Willesley Primary School. Hand this into the school office and your letter will be forwarded as soon as possible.
Meet Us: There are parent governors who are often at the school gates dropping off or picking up their children.
Just a reminder: If you have an issue with something in school, your first point of contact should always be your child’s teacher and subsequently the Headteacher – please contact reception to make an appointment. Governors do not normally get involved in the day to day running of the school – that is rightly left to the Headteacher and the senior leadership team.
We welcome your views and your continued support of the school.
In order to achieve the goal of promoting high standards of educational achievement, the governing body has a strong focus on three core strategic functions. Briefly explained these are;
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction. For example, by agreeing school policies and concurring content & priorities for improvement in the school development plan.
To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of the staff. For example, asking questions, offering support, constructive advice, help improve proposals, monitor and evaluate school performance, performance management of the headteacher.
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent. For example, checking that resources are allocated in line with the school's strategic priorities, benchmarking spend with similar schools, questioning value for money with budgetary spend.
In addition to the Headteacher, the members of the School’s Governing Body are;
