Attendance

Ashby Willesley Primary School seeks to ensure that all their pupils receive a full-time education which maximises opportunities for each pupil to realise their full potential. For pupils to gain the greatest benefit from their education, it is vital that they attend regularly and punctually. Any absence causes disruption to learning and should be avoided if at all possible. Improving attendance at Ashby Willesley School is the responsibility of everyone in our community – pupils, parents, governors and staff. 

Day to day pupil absences

Please report the absence to the office as soon as possible. Let us know the child’s name, class and brief explanation for their absence by telephone (leave a message on the answerphone) or via the Weduc App (instructions here). Unexplained absences will be followed up by a text message or call home. If we dont get a response to either the message or call, a DSL may visit the home.  For a full walkthrough on how to use the app please click here.

Planned absences

If you need to take your child out of school during term time, then an exceptional Leave Form, found in the forms section of Weduc should be completed. This will be reviewed by the Headteacher and you will be notified whether or not the absence is authorised. Term time holidays will not be authorised and may result in a fine.
